The soundtrack was selected after much thought and consideration. The rules were simple: No country, no R&B, no rap and no Back Street Boys. The reason for each song is as follows:

What a Wonderful World is one of the greatest songs ever when sung by the legendary Louie Armstrong. We are the World begged to be included, and with all the star power behind it, how could I say no. Besides, it adequately describes Sconefest's asperations. Getting Better seems to be an appropriate theme Sconefest right now. Hazy Shade of Winter has the line: "It's the springtime of my life." My Back Pages has the classic line: "I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now." Who'll Stop the Rain and Flood seemed to be appropriate theme songs about the Amazon Rain Forrest. Stayin' Alive, besides being the definitive disco song, is one of the greatest songs ever written. Spin Me Round is included because I know Scott Grant would want it there. Never There and Black Balloon are just really cool songs of today. One Headlight contains a line that is appropriate for a lot of people: "I aint changed but I know I'm not the same."

Smooth kicks of the international portion of the soundtrack. Carlos Santana is the Latin music revolution. I Never Loved You Anyway is the perfect break-up song. Estoy Aqui is almost a good break-up song. La Copa de la Vida was the theme for the 1998 World Cup and Tubthumpin' was the 1999 Women's World Cup unofficial theme.
